Federal Permitting of a Magnesium Mine on BLM-Managed Public Lands in New Mexico

Bighorn assisted in the federal permitting of a magnesium mine on BLM-managed public lands in New Mexico by spearheading Congressional and Administrative support for American Magnesium.  An extensive National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process was executed to produce a successful BLM Record of Decision for this magnesium dolomite quarry mining operation that will bring jobs and economic growth to Luna County.  American Magnesium has the potential to produce 300,000 tons of magnesium metal per year and millions of tons of Portland Cement – a bi-product of the dolomite extraction process.
